My wife gave me a digital SLR camera recently for my birthday. It's a Canon EOS 400D.
Its been a while since I've been looking at and researching on digital SLR cameras. She probably got tired of me looking at the same thing over and over which is probably why she decided to buy me one. :)
The pictures from my SLR cameras are a lot better than that of our Sony point and shoot compact cam. Their price don't differ much though. But then again, they have their own pros and cons. For one, the compact cam can be stowed away easily, though the pictures are not that fine. The SLR camera produces crisp and clear pics, but it's bulky and heavy. Another thing is that SLR cameras have a lot of things that you need to learn/understand, the point and shoot cam is as easy to understand as it can get.
I've been having fun using my new SLR camera. I need to do a lot of reading though in order to be maximize it's potential. Otherwise, it will just be a heavy and bulky point and shoot cam.
I'm also planning on buying accessories for my SLR cam. But most of them are pricey though. Hopefully I can buy one soon. Or perhaps I can just look at the accessories over and over, and probably wait on my next birthday. ;)
